LAHORE – Earthquake tremors were felts on Sunday afternoon in different parts of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, private TV channels and news wire services reported.
Strong tremors were felt in different cities and villages of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Lahore, Peshawar and federal capital Islamabad besides both parts of the divided state of Jammu Kashmir.
No loss of life or property has been reported as yet. However, emergency has been declared at all hospitals across Pakhtunkhwa. The epicentre of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake was Badakshan in Afghanistan.
Telephone networks have reportedly been disrupted in some affected areas for some time.
In India, strong tremors were also felt in Delhi on Sunday afternoon. The TV channels reported that jolts were felt in Uttarakhand as well. More details are awaited.
