ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Environment Member Sanaullah Aman said that locals’ participation in the up-coming Monsoon Tree Plantation Drive ensures success.
He said that special arrangements have been made to ensure the saplings’ proper growth so that the green character of federal capital could be further enhanced.
The official said this at CDA headquarters, while chairing a meeting to finalise the arrangements of the upcoming drive. The meeting was attended by director general environment and some senior officials of the authority.
He informed the meeting that the Monsoon Tree Plantation campaign would be launched on August 10, 2016 at Rose and Jasmine Garden and a colourful launching ceremony has also been planned for the purpose.
“Participants from all walks of life, particularly students of different educational institutes, famous personalities and celebrities are expected to participate in the launching ceremony,” Aman informed.
He also said that during the campaign, 300,000 saplings of different species would be planted all over the city and special attention has been given to the forest area. Furthermore, 15,000 fruit trees would also be planted at Lake View Park as part of the campaign.
Aman also directed the officers of CDA’s Environment Wing to finalise arrangements of the drive at the earliest so that the desired result could be achieved. He further directed them to take consolidated steps so that maximum survival of the saplings could also be ensured.
